From Klint to Ritterband

People from all over the world have marveled at Danish design for many years. Through their unique creativity, various Danish architects and designers have put themselves and Denmark on the world map.

At Morso we have a long tradition of allowing some of these people to unleash their talents on new models.

One of the earlier ones was the architect, Kaare Klint, who, up until his death in 1954, left many an unforgettable mark on Danish furniture art and furnishings. In 1944, Kaare Klint designed a quite special wood-burning stove for Morso. The stove was decorated with a poem by Johannes V. Jensen, who, that same year, received the Nobel Prize for Literature.

Another well-known designer, who lent his creativity to Morso’s stoves, is Sigvard Bernadotte. He is particularly famous for his many years of work for Georg Jensen’s Silversmiths. In the late 1940s, together with the designer, Acton Bjørn, he set up an industrial design studio, where, in the next few years, innumerable design classics were created, including the Margrethe bowl (designed by a then very young employee of the studio called Jacob Jensen). At the start of the sixties, Bjørn and Bernadotte started to design for Morso, which resulted in an elegant, enameled stove and a series of beautiful cast-iron pots In 2008,

Morso started an exciting collaboration with one of today’s most interesting artists, Monica Ritterband. The result was an epoch-making wood-burning stove in four versions, all featuring a soft and feminine language of form, which could only be produced in cast iron. In addition to the stove, Monica Ritterband has designed a unique and optimistic range of accessories entitled “Feet”. The range, which like the stove is made from cast iron, comprises a kettle, firewood holder, trivets and fire tools.
